St. Cyprian Service Starts Tonight

Read more about St. Cyprian at Big Lucky Hoodoo.

Have your petition set with a fixed, dressed, blessed light on my St. Cyprian altar for a nine-day novena, chaplet, and community altar service for the Cyprianic Holy Days, September 17-25.

I’ve been working with St. Cyprian of Antioch for almost 20 years now, but until recently, there has been very little information – or material from any of the many grimoires attributed to him – available in English. The past few years have seen an explosion of interest and information across numerous “occult subcultures” and some really smart people translating, publishing, and talking about this infamous saint. It’s honestly a really exciting time to be a devotee of St. Cyprian — the sorcerer saint, patron of the lovelorn, and refuge of the accursed — so if you aren’t already, why not introduce yourself?

Said to have been consecrated to the devil by his parents when he was 7 years old [*], Cyprian grew up studying and practicing the black arts, eventually setting up shop in Antioch as a sorcerer-for-hire. He tried every trick in the book to get the young Christian virgin Justina to give up her chaste ways, but no matter what demon or what magic he threw at her, she defeated it all by making the sign of the cross. Cyprian knew what the smart affiliation was at that point, as the legend goes, and he was baptized, renouncing his pagan sorcery. [*This is the version from the Golden Legend, Caxton trans.]

But other legends have circulated alongside those in the hagiographies – that his grimoires survived and have been in circulation ever since, that he ultimately renounced his renunciation of sorcery, that he never truly gave up sorcery at all. At any rate, this paradoxical figure has been popular globally, and most especially in the Spanish-speaking world, for hundreds of years, invoked by sorcerers for occult mastery and power, by tradesmen for help finding treasure, by lovers to secure the love of their targets, by diviners for psychic vision and necromancy, and by anyone trying to be free of mal ojo, crossed conditions, negativity, and bad luck. So you might petition St. Cyprian for:

– uncrossing and spiritual cleansing of people and/or places

– spiritual/psychic protection

– reversing of malefic stuff aimed your way

– love work, especially (but not only) of the compelling or intranquil type

– divination, psychic vision, necromancy, and other occult studies and practices

Lights will be set the night of September 17. There is some wiggle room and you can join up after the work starts as long as you see that there are still spots left and it doesn’t say “sold out.”

Mercury Rx Remediation Service

(I managed to not hit the confirm button on this post yesterday! Sorry, y’all!)

Read more about the Mercury Rx service or book your spot now at Seraphin Station.

Work begins on Thursday, September 8th. Since this service will be ongoing for the entire time Mercury is retrograde, you can book at any time as long as you still see available slots (which, barring an unusual surge of interest in this service, will be through the 3rd of October).

If there’s one bit of astrology beyond sun sign that everybody knows about, it’s probably Mercury Retrograde. This infamous event happens three times a year, and since Mercury rules things like communication, travel, negotiation, legal stuff, contracts and agreements, it can wreak havoc on all kinds of important areas in your life. So stay in bed, wear fuzzy slippers, don’t sign anything or buy/sell anything, don’t start any new relationships or go on any trips, and for the love of God, don’t touch a computer, or Mercury will nuke your life.

Or so the popular wisdom in some circles goes, anyway 🙂

Not only is that not possible or practical, it’s also not even necessary. Mercury retrograde can be a bit overblown in the “public imagination,” and as with anything astrological, how much it affects you and how will depend on your personal natal chart and what areas in it Mercury is affecting.

You can also learn more about the monthly community honey jar services or the next round of Protection/Reversing work starting up soon.

Having said all that, I still probably wouldn’t buy a new computer while Mercury is retrograde if I had a choice 🙂 But Mercury Rx does affect some of us more than others and will sometimes affect us more than usual, and we very often do not have a choice when it comes to things like contracts, technology, court dates, travel, etc.

If you find Mercury Rx tends to wreak havoc in your life, or you have an important Mercury-ruled event coming up during the retrograde period that you cannot control the timing of, or you just want a little added peace of mind during this transit, that’s what this community ritual service is designed for.

Please note that community altar work services do not come with individual readings/reports, though I will answer questions and join conversations happening on the private client Discord server. That’s also where I’ll post photos of the work, and participants get a link to my client calendar, as well.

St. Raymond Nonnatus and Community Honey Jar Services Start Tonight

This work begins the night of August 31, the feast day of St. Raymond Nonnatus, but there is some wiggle room and you absolutely can book late, as long as you see slots still available.

St. Raymond Nonnatus gets his name — which means the not-born — by virtue of his being delivered by C-section. Considering this happened in the early 13th century, it was quite an unusual event (and doubtless quite grisly), but his poor mother died in childbirth and this was the only way Raymond could be saved.

This is where his patronage of pregnant women, childbirth, midwives, and babies comes from. But as is typically the case, there’s a whole slew of additional lore and tradition that has sprung up around him that accounts for many aspects of his veneration today, as in ages past.

He’s sometimes pictured with his lips padlocked shut. This happened when he was in North Africa to ransom captured and enslaved Christians, which was the primary purpose of his religious order, the Mercederians, Members of the order would offer themselves in place of the Christian captive if they couldn’t meet the ransom demands of the Moors. This is how Raymond found himself in prison, held by captors who were not at all interested in being preached to or converted. Apparently he tried anyway, and the padlock was their response.

The link with gossip and covering the mouths of slanderers came about from popular associations with this iconography, so people petition him for help to stop gossip and slander and to silence their enemies and opponents (especially in court case work). This usage overlaps with peaceful home work in a lot of cases, where some element of gossip, slander, backtalk, or nagging is contributing to the lack of peace in a home, and I’ve seen him petitioned for this most often.

The second most popular usage I’ve encountered is probably money drawing/job-getting tied with peaceful home issues that don’t overlap with gossip/slander. Pregnancy and childbirth probably run a very distant third. (St. Gerard seems to have largely cornered that market among the folk practitioners I’ve talked to.)

Nonetheless, St. Raymond can be petitioned on issues relating to any of these. As with many saints, it’s traditional to thank him publicly for his intercession when he works for you.

Tonight: Community honey jar services, Ss. Cosmas and Damian service for physical, spiritual, mental healing

Ss. Cosmas and Damian service for petitions related to health and healing (both physical and spiritual), casting off evil, removal of crossed conditions, and protection from plague and other illness.

Cosmas and Damian were twin brothers who were practicing physicians in the 3rd century and treated their patients at no charge, hence their title of “unmercenary” or “silverless.” They have different feast days within different churches and denominations, and in the Orthodox church, in fact, there are considered to be three distinct sets of saints named Cosmas and Damian.  Of course they all have different bios and feast days, as well. As with most saints from the early centuries of the church, there’s very little or nothing in any historical or archaeological record about their lives — we have rather to deal with legend (and subsequent mystical revelation, in some cases).

But these brothers who were doctors, twins, and ultimately martyrs, have for centuries had the reputation for interceding for the faithful who called on them for healing, and numerous miracles have been attributed to them. They are also the patrons of twins, surgeons, and pharmacists, are widely venerated in Brazil as patrons of children in general, and in some houses and temples, are associated with the lwa the Marassa.

The July community honey jars for Relationships/Love and Prosperity/Success also start tonight. As usual, there are Pay What You Can options for the prosperity jar.

The Keys and Crossroads service for St. Peter is still underway as well.

Double rewards points are in effect until midnight.

Keys & Crossroads: Feast of St. Peter Road Opening Service

Have a light fixed, blessed, dressed, and set on my altar with your petition or prayer and worked in your name or the name of a loved one, in a community altar and prayer service beginning on June 29th, the feast day of St. Peter.

St. Peter was appointed by Christ as the first pope of the church, and the keys signify his authority as its first prelate and the authority of the church to bind and loose — basically to open and close the gates of heaven. This is essentially what gives the church the authority to administer the sacrament of reconciliation and thus forgive sins, opening the gates to heaven for the penitent.

St. Peter is an enormously popular saint who is called on for all kinds of things. He’s an ally when you need a road or doorway opened (or closed!), and he’s the patron of locksmiths and popes. He’s called on by leaders and by anyone who needs discernment, wisdom, courage, and/or clarity of insight, especially when at a figurative crossroads.

His reputation for removing obstacles and opening roads towards your goals is legendary, and he can be an ally in nearly any situation where someone is metaphorically doing some gatekeeping and trying to keep you out. He can help you overcome to attain success, knowledge, and freedom.

Esoterically, some interpret the power of binding and loosing to put this work in the arena of the magician and sorcerer, and use the crossroads and keys symbolism to loosen strictures they want to be free of as well as to bind their enemies from taking action or doing further harm. So there are certainly associations here with protection, in a particular sense, as well as with occult wisdom and mastery and gaining access to hidden realms and sources of knowledge.

And of course this work could easily and intuitively be adapted for goals related to safe travel, having your activities and movements overlooked or ignored by enemies or authority figures, and any work related to divination.

You could also use these services to “introduce” yourself to a saint or spirit you want to begin working with on your own, as well as to thank a saint or spirit for their earlier assistance or intercession.

In some houses and temples, St. Peter is associated with the lwa Legba. I do serve Legba as a serviteur and consecrated bishop in a Franco-Haitian Gnostic Vodou lineage, and I am happy to accept bookings and petitions pertaining to Legba as well. While I am not an initiate in a house of traditional Haitian Voudon sevis and am not a mambo, I do know the difference 🙂 , and in my ecclesiastical role, I serve fairly traditionally as much as possible given the vagaries of geography and the particulars of my own relationships with the lwa in question.

Lights will be set on Wednesday, June 29th. There is some wiggle room and you can join up after the work starts as long as you see that there are still spots left and it doesn’t say “sold out.”

New Beginnings: Sun Conjunct Mercury in Gemini Service – begins May 21

Have a glass-encased vigil light fixed, dressed, blessed, set on my altars, and worked continuously for you in a community altar work service for the upcoming Sun-Mercury conjunction in Gemini.

Lights will be set the night of May 21. There is some wiggle room and you can join up after the work starts as long as you see that there are still spots left and it doesn’t say “sold out.”

Sun-Mercury cycles are four months long, framed by the Mercury retrograde period. This Sun-Mercury conjunction initiates a new cycle, taking place just after the Sun enters Gemini, so it occurs at 0* Gemini. The degree of 0 in a sign initiates huge, strong, and often rather raw new energy.

Mercury is exalted in Gemini. Add the Sun conjunction and you’ve got a rare and fabulous opportunity to kickstart or breathe new life into projects or intentions involving communication, mental or manual dexterity, travel, writing, anything to do with the media, curiosity, and/or open-mindedness.

What’s This For?

  • initiating a difficult conversation you know you need to have
  • success in situations or activities that requires you to think quickly and/or with agility
  • upcoming travel opportunities
  • launching a new marketing campaign
  • selling a new idea or strategy to others
  • clarifying and articulating complex ideas or feelings
  • kickstarting a new creative project
  • giving a fresh burst of energy to an ongoing work or research project
  • successful writing and/or speaking engagements

Please note that community altar work services do not come with individual readings/reports, though I will post at least one photo of the work to the client Discord “forum,” which you’ll receive an invitation to after you book.

Jesus Malverde Community Altar Service starts tonight

Have a vigil light set and worked on my Jesus Malverde altar in community altar work service beginning on Tuesday, May 3rd, which serves as the feast day of this folk saint. There is some wiggle room and you can join up after the work starts as long as you see that there are still spots left and it doesn’t say “sold out.”

Jesus Malverde, also known as the Angel of the Poor or the Generous Bandit, is a folk saint who is said to have lived and died in late 19th/early 20th century Sinaloa, Mexico. His reputation as a sort of Robin Hood figure began before his death, as the legend has it; he targeted the rich, redistributed the money and goods he stole to the poor, and basically spent his life on the wrong side of the law but by all accounts on the right side of morality.

While many details of his life and death are the stuff of legend and as such unverifiable and certainly prone to dramatic embroidery, what’s undisputable is that he has a solid reputation for responding to the prayers and petitions of his devotees, especially those who find themselves running afoul of the law due to poverty and corruption.

Since the 1970s, he’s gained greater notoriety in the public eye as a narco saint — the patron saint of drug dealers and smugglers — and that is how many folks beyond the borders of Mexico who hear of him categorize him, increasingly so since the 1990s. But to dismiss him as merely a narco saint and his devotees as drug kingpins and criminals is to ignore the lived realities of the faithful in a complex world where things aren’t always so black and white â€“ where sometimes breaking the law is the right thing (or the only thing) to do, where justice isn’t blind, where the distribution of wealth is immoral, where there is government corruption and the police aren’t always on the right side of the law – humanity’s or God’s.

His devotees petition him to have enough food for their children, for safety in dangerous lines of work (including but definitely not limited to smuggling), and to get them out of legal difficulties, as you might expect from a bandit folk saint. But they also tell of how he miraculously cured their illnesses, returned lost or stolen property, even helped them get *off* drugs and get their lives on firmer footing.

His reputation as a narco saint has blossomed only over the last 40 or so years and not without a good bit of help from the media. His reputation as the Angel of the Poor and the Generous Bandit, however, long predates the sensationalist “narco saint” appellation, and as a folk saint, there’s a lot more to him than this. So it would be appropriate to petition him for pretty much anything related to living a life that is in some way “on the margins” or precarious or dangerous. It would also be suitable to use this service as an opportunity to “introduce yourself” to Jesus Malverde if you’ve been thinking you wanted to learn more about him but haven’t begun working with him yet.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties, you do not have to pay for a spot in the vigil service in order to have your name and petition included in my prayers and offerings to Jesus Malverde on May 3rd. You can simply submit your name and petition via the intake form and in place of the service/order #, type “jesus malverde prayers only.” There is no cost for the prayers-only option, though if you’d like to, you can make an optional donation in any amount you wish to help offset the cost of time and materials used, and in this case, I will set at least a votive light for you to burn for a few hours, depending on the number of reduced rate/pro bono requests I get for this service.

I’ve been doing some sort of pro bono or reduced rate/pay what you can service every month since COVID began to help those who need spiritual help but can’t afford to book private services. And I’m happy to present your petitions and pray for you as part of my own thanks to Jesus Malverde. Remember, when Jesus Malverde answers your prayers and grants your petitions, you should “pay” the saint by making a donation to the poor. Don’t protest that you are the poor and therefore you’re exempt from this duty – there’s *always* someone poorer than you. You must participate in the spiritual economy, which with Jesus Malverde is always already a financial one as well, and approach him with open rather than closed hands. Make sure you keep your side of the bargain!

Read more or book your spot at SeraphinStation.com.

If you’d like to make a donation to help offset the cost of pro bono and reduced rate services that I provide for folks experiencing income instability and career challenges during this COVID mess, you can do so here. (Offsite PayPal link)

St. Joseph the Worker Candle Service & Novena begins tonight – free options

Have vigil lights set and worked on my St. Joseph altar in a nine-day community altar work service beginning on Sunday, May 1st, the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker.

I will begin a nine-day novena and chaplet recitation to St. Joseph on this same day, focused on petitioning his intercession for the unemployed, the underemployed, those whose income is or could become unreliable or unpredictable, and those struggling to find dignity in their work. Your petition/intention will be included daily in my novena and chaplet work.

You do not have to book a spot in the vigil service in order to have your name and petition included in my 9 days of novena and chaplet prayers. You can simply submit your name and petition via the intake form and in place of the service/order #, type “joseph novena prayers only.” There is no cost for this option (though if you’d like to, you can make an optional donation in any amount you wish).

Lights will be set on Sunday, May 1st. There is some wiggle room and you can join up after the work starts as long as you see that there are still spots left and it doesn’t say “sold out.”

St. Joseph is the patron saint of fathers, foster parents, carpenters, craftsmen, travelers, immigrants, and families and workers in general. He has two feast days in the Western Catholic calendar, and this one focuses specifically on his patronage of workers.

St. Expedite Service Begins April 19th

Lights will be set and offerings will be made starting the night of Tuesday, April 19th. There is some wiggle room and you can join up after the work starts as long as you see that there are still spots left and it doesn’t say “sold out.”

Have a glass-encased vigil light fixed, dressed, blessed, set on my St. Expedite altar, and burned for you in a community altar work service for this famed and beloved patron saint of fast results.

St. Expedite’s feast day is April 19th, and while you can petition him any day of the year, you might be able to get a little extra bang for your buck on his feast day.

But beyond that, his feast day would be an excellent time to thank him for for previous services rendered if you already work with him but don’t have the time/space to do anything very elaborate with altars or offerings. Or if you are thinking about working with him and haven’t established a relationship yet, this would be a great opportunity to “introduce yourself.”

In addition to being the saint one petitions for fast results and luck in a hurry, St. Expedite is also the patron saint invoked against procrastination. He’s called on to help break through blockages and end delays, so his help is often sought for matters needing Road Opening and Blockbuster-type work. He’s also the patron of computer programmers.

In some regions and traditions, he is also known as an ally for sending away annoying people or things in a hurry.

Lucky Stars IV: Jupiter in Pisces (The Final Chapter, featuring Jupiter Conjunct Neptune in Pisces)

Work begins Friday, April 1st, but this altar setting will be worked and available until Jupiter leaves Pisces on May 10th,so you absolutely can jump in late as long as you see slots still available.

Lucky Stars IV this go-round is “the final chapter” – Jupiter leaves Pisces on May 10th and we have to say goodbye. But Jupiter is giving us one more gift before then – Jupiter is conjunct Neptune in Pisces on April 12th. More on this below.

What’s This For?

Jupiter’s at home in Pisces – you could call it his command center or throne room, even – so this is great big benevolent Jupiter energy: wisdom, expansion, opportunity, dreams, the intuitive search for the truth, spirituality. It’s a wonderful, much-anticipated transit after the strain, drama, and restriction of 2020-2021.

Jupiter in Pisces is just plain lucky – an excellent “good luck charm” transit – and will be there until May 2022. It’s a great time to ask the universe for what you want and put your energy towards manifesting it.

What’s kind of rare here is that Neptune is also in Pisces at this time, and together, Jupiter and Neptune co-rule that sign. Jupiter’s urge towards expansiveness and Neptune’s urge towards larger social and mystical vision can combine for some crazy big magical opportunities, especially those related to Neptune’s wheelhouse: empathy, imagination, the metaphysical, psychic vision and intuition, spiritual awakening.

Dream big. Grab hope. Jupiter wants to give us what we need to sort our shit out so we can be happier.

You don’t apply for certain types of jobs because (fill in your demographic) never gets those jobs? *This is when you should flout the odds and apply anyway.*

Nobody in your family has a lick of psychic ability and you’ve always thought your tarot cards might be deliberately messing with you? *Time to call them on it and figure out what’s going on.*

Found your dream home but your annual income is missing a few zeroes you’re sure you’d need to get financing? *They just might overlook that strictly by the book stuff this time.* Might as well ask Jupiter to send a little of that expansive benevolence your way.

Jupiter Conjunct Neptune in Pisces

Jupiter is conjunct Neptune in Pisces on April 12th, though we can expect the influence of this transit to be felt in the weeks preceding and following the point at which it’s exact on the 12th, especially between April 7th and 17th.

The last time Jupiter was conjunct Neptune in Pisces was in 1856, the year Nikola Tesla, Booker T. Washington, Sigmund Freud, L. Frank Baum, John Singer Sargent, George Bernard Shaw, and Robert Peary were born.

This transit has to do with new ways of seeing, with subtle ideas, and with the creative impulse, so it’s especially beneficial for petitions related to intuition, divination, creative works, imagination, and inspiration. If you have a longstanding obstacle or issue that needs a fresh approach, or outside-the-box thinking, or even just a magic flash of lightning and you don’t know how to make it happen, that’s the kind of energy this transit can bring.

In a way, it’s also a “thinning of the veil” energy, a time when it should be easier to connect with other realms or planes of existence, so it really speaks to anything related to art, painting, creative writing, music, meditation, dance, mediumship, psychic ability, breakthroughs in the arts or sciences, and inspiration to break through roadblocks or plot a new course.

This service has Pay What You Can options.

New Moon in Pisces: Forward Momentum (March 2-7)

For this upcoming New Moon in Pisces and the days immediately following, there is a *hell of a lot going on.*

The Sun and the Moon are conjunct Jupiter and Neptune, the co-rulers of Pisces. This is really pretty special and makes this an *excellent* New Moon for spiritual/magical work.

But that’s not all – Mars, Venus, and Pluto will be conjunct in Capricorn the following day, and Mercury and Saturn will be conjunct in Aquarius. It’s a HUGE party and *everybody* is showing up (well, except Uranus – he’s too busy being conjunct the North Node in Taurus to socialize right now).

As if that weren’t enough, then Jupiter will join up with the Sun a few days later and will be what we call cazimi in Pisces on March 5th – this is Jupiter in the Heart of the Sun with the Sun lending its strength and power to Jupiter, who can give off his purest expression of energy. For a brief period of time, if you will, you can imagine yourself having gained entrance to the throne room for an audience with the king.

And finally, this new moon is aligned with Lambda Aquarii, aka Hydor, a star in the constellation of Aquarius with a Saturn-Jupiter nature that is helpful if you want to acquire or retain something, e.g. get money, a job, or respect, or hang on to the money, job, or respect that you’ve already earned.

And Jupiter is conjunct Alpha Eridani, aka Achernar, a fixed star with a Jupiter nature that brings success in matters relating to the pursuit of religion or philosophy, holding public office or a position for which you must be nominated/appointed, and in general behaving with moral uprightness and steadfastness.

So what’s this for?

All kinds of stuff.

  • any petitions to do with health, wealth, happiness, long-distance travel, the law, higher education, spirituality, and/or business
  • the start of a new relationship or new project, especially a creative one
  • you’re ready to begin focusing intently on a particular goal
  • you need help to recognize and hang on to the things that give you hope
  • you desire spiritual growth and/or greater independence
  • rekindling faith and gaining a burst of optimism and/or creativity
  • focusing on reciprocity and stability in your relationships
  • expressing the “real you” or finding your authentic voice
  • increased charisma and sex appeal
  • coming out ahead if you’re competing for something
  • you need help reforming bad habits or relinquishing vices

Just submit your petition and info via the intake form after you check out and I’ll have all the info I need to get you set up for the service.

Work will begin and lights will be set the night of Wednesday, March 2nd. There is definitely wiggle room – this stuff will be kicking up energy all week long and through the weekend – so you can definitely book late if you still see slots open.

Commitment to Vision: Sun Conjunct Saturn Service Starts Tonight

While Saturn might be characterized as a stern schoolmaster and is often associated with restriction, it’s also the planet of hard work, discipline, patience, and mastery.

Saturn can bring hardship, hard lessons, and insecurity. But Saturn can also bring recognition and achievement. It all depends on how attentive you’ve been to Saturn’s lessons and how diligent you’ve been with your commitments and responsibilities.

What’s This For?

The Sun is conjunct Saturn just once a year, and I like to think of this as an annual opportunity to take stock, reflect on how things have been going, and adjust fire if needed. If things have been starting to fall apart, it is probably time to adjust course and reassess goals. If things have been going well, it is a good time to articulate and commit to your goals or your next phase. Either way, this is the kind of thing Saturn does – Saturn can help.

Basically, it’s a good time to think about the structures in your life. This can be literally, like if you’re due for a roof inspection or planning on building onto your home, organizing your closets, decluttering the basement, or remodeling your place.

But it can also be more figurative. How do you spend your time? What shapes your plans for your own day to day living? Do you *have* plans shaping your day to day living? Or are you living in constant reaction to external forces with little agency over your own schedule and life? These aren’t always easy issues to untangle – but Saturn can help you do that work of untangling and articulating where you want to be and how you can get there.

This is a good time for anything related to building, rebuilding, commitments, stability, authority, and real estate/your home.

  • If your life is too cluttered, it’s a good time to ask Saturn to help you declutter.
  • If your time is taken up too much with other people’s bullshit, Saturn can help you set reasonable limits and get your life back.
  • If everything you’ve tried to do lately has just fizzled out or gone wrong, it’s a good time to ask Saturn to help you reassess and get clarity on what you need to adjust.
  • If things have been going well at work and you’ve been diligently working towards promotion or a raise, it’s a good time to ask Saturn to help you get the recognition you’ve earned.
  • If you’ve been kinda drifting along getting buffeted about by outside forces and not having much of a plan of your own, it’s a good time to ask Saturn’s help in forming one.
  • If you are considering any project or path where commitment, hard work, skill, mastery, and/or vision are big elements of success, it’s a great time to ask Saturn’s blessing and start that new endeavor.
